Heat Advisories Thursday thru Sunday

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the afternoons and evenings every day from Thursday through Sunday. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room when possible, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible.

The Middletown Springs Public Library is open on Friday from 10-2 and Saturday from 10-noon, and is a lovely, air-conditioned space. And Springs Park is shady and far cooler than most of town, so that’s a wonderful outdoor refuge.

Additional suggestions and resources can be found on the Vermont Department of Health website

It’s hot. Be careful.
