Middletown Springs First Response & Poultney Rescue Squad
Middletown Springs First Response is just that… a volunteer service located right here in town to provide first response care to residents in need. They fill that critical gap in time between the 911 call and the arrival of the Poultney Rescue Squad with their transporting ambulance and additional EMS personnel. Both services are staffed with First Responders, EMT’s and EMTI’s.
The Regional Ambulance Service in Rutland is the closest Paramedic service. The closest hospital is Rutland Regional Medical Center.
Middletown Springs First Response is not a transporting unit. The Poultney Rescue Squad is our transporting service, although there are times when another area agency will cover the call and transport.
The Middletown Springs First Response and the Poultney Rescue Squad are volunteer organizations. Both organizations are always looking for new people willing to volunteer. While the commitment may seem large, the rewards in personal satisfaction and community service are immeasurable. The steps to becoming a member of either squad include completing the education course and its practical exam, and then passing the National Registry EMT written exam. The process takes about 6 months. Successful candidates become members of Poultney Rescue and complete a probationary period before joining the Middletown Springs First Response.
