The Former Library Building is Empty - What now?

PUBLIC INPUT SOUGHT ON NEXT STEPS FOR THE FORMER LIBRARY BUILDING

With the relocation of the Middletown Springs Public Library into the newly renovated space of the former St. Anne’s Catholic Church, several folks have inquired about the Town’s plans for the ‘old’ library building, itself a former Episcopal Church in its previous life.

The Select Board is inviting special public participation at our next regular Board meeting, from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 8, 2026, soliciting input from townsfolk as to future plans for the building.

As we anticipate the existing library building to be basically empty in the near future, we are considering plans for the next phase of its life. While the single most obvious outcome may be the sale of the building in order to get it back on the tax rolls, this may present an opportunity for something really unique that we are unaware of. Plan on attending this Special Meeting to share your creative ideas with the Select Board.
